客先のプラントがトラブッて打ち合わせできなくなり、急遽出張は中止となった。この日のために頑張ってきたのに、2週間も延期されてテンションががた落ちである。
千葉のお客さんはみんな忙しくてあってくれず、ちょっと来週は空白の週になりそうな雰囲気。
私と一緒に出張に行くはずだったI氏は、私の出張がなくなって一人で車で客先まで走ることになった。ところが、何を思ったかＣＭが「俺が一緒に行ってやろうか？」といいだす。いや、こりゃいかん、この人を自由にすると客先でなにを言い出すか分からない。軽いパニックをきたした我々は、何とか阻止せねばと二人で色々小細工を講じたのだが結局彼を止めることができなかった。
私とずっと打ち合わせやらブレインストーミングやらやるはずだった車中は、一気に地獄へと化してしまったＩ氏。まっこと申し訳ないが、トラブルでプラントが止まっているお客のところへ、３名も雁首そろえて行ったらそれこそ「人の不幸を商売のネタにする」ハイエナかハゲタカと思われてしまう。そんな、我々の心配をよそに、ＣＭは「俺が行けばトラブルの解決の役に立つだろう」などと、とんでもないことを口走っている。
昔のＣＭならこんなことは絶対にいわなかった。そもそも、客先がとらぶったときの対応を教えてくれたのはこのＣＭである。まず、トラブル原因を突き止めるため、製造現場と直接関係のない他の部署に電話をかけてみる。自分たちも関係ありそうなら現場の人にこっそり電話して、我々が関わっていないかどうか確認する。電話する相手は、トラブル中にかけても大丈夫なリレーションのしっかりした人にする等々。それがいまじゃ「人の不幸は稼ぎ時」とでもいわんばかりにいそいそと喜んで出て行く。そんなに自分の家に帰りたくないのかい。
客先のトラブルのことをあーだこーだという前に、自分の家庭のトラブルをなんとかしなさいよ！ 頼むからできもしないことを客先で口走らないでくれよ。ＣＭの口約束はわが事業部の約束なんだからさ。
それにしてもＩ氏にはすまんことをした。プラントトラブルを黙っていることもできたんだけど、あとでバレバレだからなぁ。今日と明日で疲れきって帰ってくるＩ氏を、明日の夜は接待してやらねばなるまいて。
